According to professional Urologist Dr. David W. Hall, “Interstitial cystitis (IC), often called ‘painful bladder syndrome’ (PBS), is a chronic bladder condition characterized by bladder pressure, bladder pain, and pelvic pain. The symptom severity can range from mild to severe.”
In his latest blog post, Dr. Hall mentions: “IC is more prevalent in women, affecting approximately 3-8 million U.S. women and up to 1-4 million U.S. men… Although there are no known treatments to completely eradicate IC, there are many treatments to relieve the symptoms.”
The first reaction when I first encountered these symptoms was to find out more about IC. Based on my personal experience, IC is a result of sleeping and not waking up to go the bathroom (holding it for too long), drinking alcohol and stress. These all play part in health bladder and the number of bathroom trips we take.
Drinking Cranberry juice can help with IC. Cranberry juice, among its many wonders, has benefits that work wonders with UTIs (Urinary Tract Infection) and IC. Cranberry extracts and supplements can also work wonders to relieve IC symptoms. There are other over the counter medicines you can buy to relieve the pain when urinating. These are not Doctor prescribed, so please check with your Doctors before taking them.
If all the above fails, please see a Doctor for medical advice. You are not alone. Like mentioned above, “IC affects 3-8 million women and 1-4 million men in U.S.A.” In my case, IC happens irregularly. Speaking from experience, listen to your body and take care of IC by maintaining a healthy bladder system.
Sometimes you will experience IC three times a year, once a month, or perhaps once a week. Whatever the case may be, make sure you listen to your body, retrace your steps, keep the reasons I gave you in mind and if possible, care for your bladder in a natural way.
